Many main stations have lockers big enough for a full size suitcases. There are also coin lockers at the location where the key is to be picked up, so if the host had arranged a key locker or a place to store luggage, checking-in would be a lot less stressful and I would have been more understanding of having to wait an extended period to check-in.
